Steps

  1. 1

Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef; cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.

  4. 4

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper.

  5. 5

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer with 3 noodles, then half of the ricotta mixture, then 1 cup of mozzarella, and more meat sauce.

  6. 6

Repeat layers: noodles, remaining ricotta, mozzarella, meat sauce. Top with remaining noodles and cover with the rest of the meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.

  7. 7

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is golden. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
