Steps

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Halve bell peppers lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes. Place cut-side up in a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion; cook until beef is browned and onion is softened. Drain excess fat.

  3. 3

Stir in minced garlic, diced tomatoes (undrained), cooked rice, half of the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

Spoon the beef and rice mixture evenly into the bell pepper halves.

  5. 5

Pour the remaining tomato sauce around the peppers in the baking dish. Cover the dish loosely with foil.

  6. 6

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese over the stuffed peppers, and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until peppers are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.
