Steps

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, grated onion, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into 1-inch meatballs.

  2. 2

In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs in batches, turning often, until golden on all sides. Remove meatballs and set aside.

  3. 3

Add remaining 1 tbsp butter to the skillet. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, scraping up browned bits. Gradually whisk in beef broth, bringing to a simmer until slightly thickened.

  4. 4

Reduce heat to low. Stir in sour cream and Dijon mustard until smooth. Return meatballs to the skillet, coating them in the gravy.

  5. 5

Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and gravy has thickened to your desired consistency. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.

  6. 6

Serve hot over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or with lingonberry jam.
